From industry 4.0, cloud systems to autonomous vehicles – the key to innovation lies in electronics. Do you have what it takes to push the next leap in electronics production? Then become part of the first hackathon at productronica and face our challenges revolving around the digital transformation of the electronics industry.

At Hack the Fair HACKATHON@ productronica we bring engineers, software or hardware developers, UX designers, scientists, students, start-ups and entrepreneurs together to create interdisciplinary solutions to concrete challenges for component, machine and plant manufacturers in the electronics industry. All this is embedded in productronica, the world’s leading trade fair for electronics development and production.

Accompanied by the challenge providers, VDMA Productronic, Messe München and Fraunhofer IZM, we support you and your team in finding ideas and implementing them.

1. What's the Hackathon about?

Hack the Fair HACKATHON@productronica is organized for the first time by Fraunhofer IZM, Messe München and VDMA Productronic. The hackathon is challenge-oriented, i.e. the participants work on a concrete task and real challenges of the industry 4.0.

3. What are the challenges at the hackathon?

There are the following challenges for this HACKATHON@productronica.

5. What is the goal of the Hackathon?

The aim of HACKATHON@productronica is to meet the real challenges of machine and plant manufacturers in the digital age and to develop new solutions.

Experienced mentors advise and support the teams in implementing their ideas. At the end of the hackathon, the developed prototypes are presented to a renowned jury of experts. The best ideas and concepts are awarded prizes.

7. What happens after the hackathon?

After the HACKATHON@productronica you have the opportunity to follow up the idea with your team.

As a winning team, the prize money can give you a push. In addition, we support the Hackathon teams after the Hackathon in cooperation with the Challenge providers.

11. What do I need to bring?

All necessary working materials will be provided. However, we recommend that you bring your own laptop.

A hackathon is an ideas and innovation competition in which interdisciplinary teams work together within two days to find concrete solutions to the challenges posed. These form the basis for later implementation.

4. When and where will the Hackathon take place?

Hack the Fair will take place from 12 to 14 November 2019 (Tuesday – Thursday) during productronica in Hall B2 of Messe München.

The hackathon will open on Tuesday afternoon at 4 pm with keynote speeches, followed by team building and hacking until Thursday afternoon. The event ends with the team pitches of the solution ideas and the TALENTS Party.

6. How does the Hackathon work for me?

Together in a team you will work on an exciting challenge from the companies Komax AG or Schleuniger AG.

You and your team have two days to turn an idea into a prototype. At the end, the solutions are pitched in front of a jury of experts and prize money is awarded. During the whole event sufficient catering will be provided.

You can expect exciting challenges, new experiences and the chance to expand your network. And who knows, maybe you will continue to work on your solution and start a start-up?

Anyone is welcome who wants to take industry 4.0 to the next level with us. The HACKATHON@productronica brings together engineers, software or hardware developers, UX designers, business model experts, scientists and students, to name but a few.

You can come as a team or search the platform for team members for your idea.

Participation in HACKATHON@productronica is free of charge. Included are non-alcoholic drinks and meals during the event. Transport to Munich and accommodation must be arranged by the participants themselves.
